Between the Mat.
Move with intention, live in alignment.
There is a rhythm to everything — the rising sun, the shifting tide, the turn of seasons, the breath that moves through you each day. When we live in harmony with this natural rhythm, life feels more stable, more alive, and deeply supportive of our wellbeing.
Modern life often pulls us away from these cues. Constant stimulation keeps the nervous system alert when it longs to rest. Our schedules rarely slow to grounding pace, when its really a lack of priority towards practices of sustainability. Over time, senses of disconnection can show up in a variety of ways, that keep you feeling off in some way. This series will give you places to explore cyclical living towards your own self, as well connected to the seasonal shifts in your local environment, and through several approaches.
This signature Oasis Yoga Studio series bridges practice with daily life. Between the Mat is not about doing more, but about remembering the intelligence already present in your body. Through workshops, retreats, and courses, you learn how to adapt your routines, movement, food, and rituals to support each season’s energy.
Each offering serves as both education and experience. You will learn why certain foods feel grounding in winter, how the breath changes with the time of day, and how subtle shifts — in light, sound, scent, and rhythm — can influence your mood and energy. The goal is to cultivate awareness that extends beyond the mat, into how you live, eat, rest, and care for yourself.
What Is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is a holistic health system, rooted in the understanding that nature and the body are reflections of one another. The word translates to “knowledge of life”, and comes from India dated back to around 5000 years ago. It teaches that everything — from the seasons, to our emotions — is composed of five elements, and something we unanimously have in common: earth, water, fire, air, and space. Together they make the blend of energies, called the doshas, which all living things can be seen as made from.
When we live out of rhythm with the environment — eating heavy foods in hot months, staying up late under artificial light, ignoring the body’s cues for rest — these energies shift out of balance. Ayurveda offers practical ways to restore harmony: mindful eating, daily self-care rituals, seasonal routines, and connection with the senses.
The Workshops.
The Intro to Ayurveda workshop is the complimentary workshop that is offered seasonally, and one we recommend you look into to partner along with the companion workshops. While all events in the series offer an exploration of your dosha, this workshop offers a closer look at how the energies come together, how they influence us, and how they can be used to balance out our states of being.
From there we take Ayurveda through the highlights of these companion workshops, yoga classes and wellness retreats.
